Meehan<\/strong>, <strong>Anthony Nesty<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Norment<\/strong> have been named finalists for the 2022 American Swimming Coaches Association George Haines Coach of the Year Award. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All six finalists coached athletes who won gold medals at the recent World Championships in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This award is given annually to the individual whose coaching effectiveness has contributed the most towards American swimming excellence at the World level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The 2022 ASCA George Haines Coach of the Year winner will be revealed on September 8, 2022, at the Awards Banquet during the ASCA World Clinic at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>About the finalists:<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Todd DeSorbo<\/b>, the head coach at the University of Virginia, coached medalists Alex Walsh and Kate Douglass.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Dave Durden<\/b>, the head coach of the men\u2019s team at the University of California Berkeley, coached multiple gold medalist Ryan Murphy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Ray Looze<\/b>, the head coach at Indiana University, coached multiple gold medalist Lilly King.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Greg Meehan<\/b>, the head coach of the women\u2019s team at Stanford University, coached multiple gold medalists Tori Huske and Reagan Smith.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Anthony Nesty<\/b>, the head coach at the University of Florida, coached multiple gold medalists Katie Ledecky, Bobby Finke, Caeleb Dressel and Kieran Smith.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Michael Norment<\/b>, an assistant coach at the Georgia Tech University, coached gold medalist Nik Fink.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The ASCA Coach of the Year has been awarded since 1961.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Past recipients include many greats in the profession, including George Haines, for whom the award is named, Doc Counsilman, Eddie Reese, Bob Bowman, Gregg Troy, Jon Urbanchek and many
