The path for Penn swimmer\u00a0Lia Thomas<\/strong>\u00a0to become the NCAA Woman of the Year has ended.\u00a0Thomas, a transgender swimmer who\u00a0was nominated by Penn<\/a>\u00a0to be the Quakers\u2019 Woman of the Year, was not selected by the Ivy League as conferences narrowed down the finalists from each school.<\/p>\n

Adam Peaty<\/strong>\u00a0won\u2019t be going to the\u00a02024 World Championships<\/strong>\u00a0in Doha and believes the meet will be poorly attended weeks before the Olympic Trials season gets under way.<\/p>\n

There has been growing criticism of\u00a0FINA\u2019s decision to stage the 2024 Worlds<\/a>\u00a0from 2-18 February and\u00a0to also make it a relay qualification meet<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0Paris Games<\/strong>\u00a0to be held from July that year.<\/p>\n

There is simply no stopping the Australian freestyle relay machine, not at this Commonwealth Games at least.<\/p>\n

The Aussies did what the Aussies have come to be expected to do, routing the field in the women\u2019s 400 freestyle relay Saturday in Birmingham. The team of\u00a0Madison Wilson, Shayna Jack, Mollie O\u2019Callaghan<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Emma McKeon<\/strong>\u00a0blistered the field in a time of 3:30.64, besting England by a margin of nearly six seconds.<\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>came to U.S. Nationals with hopes of swimming a best time. Ledecky\u2019s standard in her signature events is ridiculously high, as she is the world-record holder in the 800 and 1500 freestyle, the second-fastest swimmer in history in the 400 free and fourth all-time in the 200 free. Molly is a member of the NSU Sharks Swim Team, a Division II program located in the Sunshine State Conference. She is currently a dual admission sophomore and plans to graduate with a marketing major and communications minor in 2021, then an MBA in 2022.
