After reports surfaced of a rift between Chalmers and teammates <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and <strong>Cody Simpson<\/strong>, Chalmers felt the need to address the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Chalmers emphasized that he did congratulate McKeon after Australia won the mixed 400 freestyle relay, contradicting reports that indicated he snubbed his former girlfriend. Chalmers also made it clear that he speaks to and supports Simpson, who is currently dating McKeon. Chalmers noted that the Australian media continually cuts him down and seeks out controversy, rather than focus on positive storylines, such as relay victories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe win almost every single medal last night and again tonight and that\u2019s the storyline,\u201d Chalmers said, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/sport\/swimming\/false-news-chalmers-unloads-on-reports-of-rift-with-mckeon-simpson-20220731-p5b5yb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>. \u201cI think the media really need to start to grow up and focus on the good things. You look at America, they jump on the winners. They support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter what I do these days, the media wants to jump on when I have done nothing but give all to this country. I stand and talk to you guys after every race. Bad, good, I\u2019ve always stopped to give you guys the time of day. There\u2019s going to be a time when I definitely stop doing that if that\u2019s going to be the case.
