Commonwealth Games: Semifinals Recap – Lara Van Niekerk Sets Second Games Record in 50 Breast<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the second time Friday, the opening day of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Lara Van Niekerk<\/strong> set the Games record in the women\u2019s 50 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

The South African went 29.82 in the morning prelims to set the mark, then clipped .02 off it in the evening semifinals to set the pace in Saturday\u2019s final.<\/p>\n

The full list of semifinal results in four events Friday \u2013 the men\u2019s 50 butterfly, women\u2019s 50 breast, men\u2019s 100 backstroke and women\u2019s 100 butterfly \u2013 are below.<\/p>\n
