BROOKFIELD, Wisconsin, March 3. HEAD coach Fred Russell, who has coached at Elmbrook Swim Club in Wisconsin for nearly three of his nearly five decades in the sport of swimming, has elected to retire this month.<\/p>\n
Russell finishes up 28 years at Elmbrook, closing out a 47-year career in the sport having coached teams in AAU Swimming, USA Swimming, Collegiate Swimming, U.S. Masters Swimming, YMCA Swimming and even in USA Water Polo. He finishes his career having coached athletes to individual top 10s or All-American honors at every level he’s been involved.<\/p>\n
Russell will be retiring with his wife Karen, and plans to travel extensively as well as fish and potentially keep involved in the sport via Masters Swimming. The Russells also plan on spending their winters in Florida as they get away from the frigid temperatures found in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
