The 2022 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships is ready to crown its first champions, and the heat sheets for the Day One finals have been released. The session will feature the women\u2019s 200 butterfly, the men\u2019s 200 butterfly, the women\u2019s 100 freestyle and the men\u2019s 100 freestyle.\u00a0Following those events, the final timed distance heats in the women\u2019s 800 and men\u2019s 1500 freestyles will be raced.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Day One Finals Heat Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n

As the Cal men raced to the NCAA championship, Gabriel Jett<\/strong> was one of several key performers for the Bears. He took the top seed in the 200 butterfly during prelims Tuesday and is aiming for his first individual national title as the top seed.\u00a0Dakota Luther<\/strong> remained the top seed in the women’s 200 butterfly behind a morning performance of 2:08.10.<\/p>\n

A perennial All-American for the University of Georgia, Luther announced her decision to transfer to the University of Texas shortly after last spring\u2019s NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n

In the women’s 100 freestyle, Natalie Hinds<\/strong> won the final heat of nine in the women\u2019s event, gliding out in front of the field and shutting it down late to cruise to the top seed. She still was easily the top seed at 54.12, leading a veteran top three into the final. Mallory Comerford<\/strong> took second place in prelims for an inside lane in finals in 54.28. Third place went to Gabi Albiero<\/strong> in 54.47.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 100, Shaine Casas<\/strong> set the pace at 48.28 to earn the top seed. Matt King<\/strong> was second in 48.33, a best time. That heat also produced fourth seed Kieran Smith,<\/strong> the Olympic medalist going 48.86.<\/p>\n

The top swimmers in the women\u2019s 800 \u2014 Katie Ledecky, Erica Sullivan, Kaersten Meitz<\/strong> and Sierra Schmidt<\/strong> \u2014 will all be in the final heat.\u00a0For the men, David Johnson<\/strong> and Will Gallan<\/strong>t lead the final heat.<\/p>\n
