Two-Year Countdown to 2024 Olympic Games in Paris Is Underway<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only one year removed from the 2020 Olympic Games, which actually took place in Tokyo in 2021. Today also marks two years until the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The French capital will serve as host for the third time, and 100 years after it last welcomed the sporting world.<\/p>\n

Paris will join London as the only cities to host the Olympic Games on three occasions, although Los Angeles will join that club when the Games head to Southern California in 2028. While London hosted in 1908, 1948 and 2012, Paris has done the honors in 1900 and 1924. Los Angeles was the host city in 1932 and 1984.<\/p>\n

For the first time, swimming will take place over nine days<\/a> in Paris, with competition running from July 27-Aug. 4. The specific event schedule was released on Monday, and there will be preliminary sessions on the first eight days of action. The ninth day will only feature finals. Prelims will be held in the morning and finals at night, marking a return to the typical schedule used for major competitions. In Tokyo, as was the case in Beijing (2008), finals were held in the morning to suit NBC, which held the American television rights.<\/p>\n

Olympic Schedule<\/a><\/p>\n

If Katie Ledecky<\/strong> qualifies for her fourth Games, the American distance star would have the chance to match Michael Phelps<\/strong> as the only swimmers in history to win the same event in four consecutive Olympiads.
