16-year-old has cut a swathe through junior waters these past few weeks with 400 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rising-italian-star-lorenzo-galossi-powers-to-european-juniors-crown-in-800-freestyle\/\">800 gold<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/david-popovici-takes-200-free-in-145-95-merve-tuncel-goes-eighth-in-1500-rankings-at-european-juniors\/\">200 silver<\/a> behind <strong>David Popovici<\/strong> at the European Junior Championships in Bucharest.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, he came from sixth at the final turn to come home in 27.49 and share second with<strong> Filippo Megli,\u00a0<\/strong>the pair behind <strong>Stefano di Cola<\/strong> who stopped the clock at 1:46.82.<\/p>\n<p>That sliced 0.29 off the junior standard of 1:47.71 Galossi swam behind Popovici in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>Splits: 24.98\/52.41 (27.43)\/1:19.93 (27.52)\/1:47.72 (27.49)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas Ceccon<\/strong>, the 100 back world record holder, had led the way at 150 before finishing seventh in 1:48.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luca de Tullio<\/strong> added 1500 gold to his 800 silver behind Galossi in 15:03.32, the 18-year-old ahead for all but 100m of the race to win by 12.42secs from <strong>Fabio Dalu<\/strong> (15.15.74).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silvia di Pietro<\/strong> was 0.13 off her Italian 50 free record of 24.84 dating from 2014 as she stopped the clock at 24.97, the only woman inside 25secs.<\/p>\n<p>Italian record holder <strong>Francesca Fangio<\/strong> led throughout to win the women&#8217;s 200br in 2:24.71 ahead of two-time Olympian <strong>Martina Carraro<\/strong> (2:25.56).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luca Pizzini<\/strong> was the clear winner of the men&#8217;s race in 2:10.54.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Federica Toma<\/strong> came home in 32.56 to overhaul <strong>Margherita Panziera<\/strong> on the final 50 and win the 200 back in 2:09.76, a day after taking the 100 back title.<\/p>\n<p>Panziera touched in 2:09.99.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Cesarano<\/strong> twins occupied the top-two slots in the women&#8217;s 400 free, Antonietta leading home sisterr Noemi in 4:09.52 to 4:10.47.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorenzo Mora<\/strong> came from third at halfway to take the men&#8217;s 200 back title in 1:57.35, <strong>Lorenzo Gargani<\/strong> took the men&#8217;s 50 fly in 23.38 and <strong>PierAndrea Matteazzi<\/strong> clinched the IM double with a 2:00.62 win in the short medley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> led throughout to take the women&#8217;s 200 fly title in 2:10.14 with <strong>Antonella Crispino<\/strong> moving from third at the final turn to
