FINA Announces Dates for the 2024 World Championships in Doha<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of a packed international schedule on the road to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, FINA has announced the rescheduled dates for the 2024 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. The event will take place less than six months before the Paris Games, with the various aquatic competitions spanning February 2-18.<\/p>\n

Doha was originally slated to serve as host of the World Championships in 2023, but because Fukuoka, Japan was pushed back<\/a> as host to that date, FINA needed to change the schedule for Doha. The capital of Qatar, Doha was the site of the 2014 World Short Course Championships and has held nine editions of the FINA World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt FINA, we are committed to giving athletes additional opportunities to compete on the championship stage. Today\u2019s announcement is a testament to this. We are extremely fortunate to have an event host in Doha that shares our passion for aquatics with the willingness and flexibility to organize this prestigious event to the benefit of aquatics athletes everywhere,\u201d said FINA President Husain Al-Musallam.<\/p>\n

With the Olympics<\/a> following so soon after the 2024 World Championships are scheduled, it will be interesting to see if some of the world\u2019s premier athletes bypass the event and simply focus on the Paris Games.
