FEDERAL WAY, Wash., March 2. USC swept the men's and women's 10-meter platform events on the final day of competition at the 2003 Pacific-10 Men's Diving Championships, held at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Washington. <\/p>\n
USC's Ray Vincent won the men's event with his score of 503.85, denying ASU freshman Joona Puhakka's bid for a sweep of all three diving contests. Puhakka finished third off the platform with 456.40 points, three points behind Arizona's Josh Anderson, who was second (459.80).<\/p>\n
USC's Blythe Hartley, a sophomore, completed her sweep of the women's diving events here. Hartley, the 2002 NCAA Women's Diver of the Year who won the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard earlier, completed the Pac-10 sweep by winning the platform with 489.20 points. <\/p>\n
Hartley became only the second Pac-10 woman ever to sweep all three events. The first was Stanford's Katie Connors in 1988. Junior Nicci Fusaro posted her second second-place finish of the meet with 434.85 in the platform. UCLA's Regan Gosnell was third. <\/p>\n
USC has won at least one Pac-10 diving event eight years in a row. <\/p>\n
