HO hum, another year, another title for Teeters' Terrifically Talented Tigers.

Coach Susan Teeter's Princeton Lady Tiger swimmers and divers, triple-defending Ivy League champs and winners of eight of 18 titles during her reign, roared their way to No. 4 in-a-row this evening with a 799 to 633-point victory over arch-rival Harvard.

The Tigers were ranked No. 25 in the latest CSCAA poll prior to the start of the conference championships, and rode a 41-straight dual-meet victory streak into the Ivy title-meet — a streak that coincides with their four-consecutive championships.

Tiger Sarah Fraumann surged to a 19-second win in the 1650 freestyle to lead a 1-2-3 Princeton sweep of the first event of the last night, as Princeton cruised to the crown.

Final team scores had Princeton No. 1 wit. Harvard next; Brown's Bears clawed their way to third (600.5), followed by.Yale (513.5), Columbia (384), Penn (366), Dartmouth (187) and Cornell's Big Red (116).

Fraumann, who set a meet record in the 1000 freestyle Friday night, won the mile in 16:25.04, nine seconds off Olympian and former Columbia All-America/NCAA champion Cristina Teuscher's meet record — but nearly 20 seconds better than the second-place finisher (not to mention a pr and Tiger-record).

Princetonian Libby Engelmeier was second and Eileen Altenburger third as the Tigers started off its big night with a sweep.

The only other individual winner on the night for Princeton was Lauren Rossi, who stroked to the 200 breaststroke title in 2:18.28. Teammate Whitney Ryan finished second (2:19.14).

Though the Tigers did not win another event, they were so far ahead entering the final night that the matter was entirely academic.

Brown's Liz Daniels had an exceptional meet, winning three individual golds in the 50-100 frees and 100 back, plus leading off the Bears' winning 200-400 free relays.

She won the 100 tonight in 50.08, not far off the meet- and Ivy-record of 49.68 by former Brown NCAA finalist Jennifer Boyd from 1990. Boyd is the sister of former University of Tennessee sprint star Doug.

In the 200 back, there was a tie for the title — between two Harvard dorsal specialists no less — with both Michelle Bright and Emily Stapleton clocking identical NCAA "B" cuts of 2:00.51.

Another Crimson standout, flyer Arina Fraser, won the 200 in a "B" cut 2:02.37 with teammate Jane Evans close behind (2:02.59); and Harvard's Renee Paradise won the 3-meter diving with 453.20 points.

The ladies from Cambridge's win streak came to an end in the 400 free relay when Brown took the gold with its 3:22.13 "B" clocking.

Coach Rob Orr's Princeton Tiger men's team, defending Eeastern Intercollgiate Sports League champs, will try for their second-consecutive title next weekend at the Goodwill Games' pool on Long Island.

It will mark the first time that the meet has not been held at a member school's home pool.

— Bill Bell

2003 WOMEN'S IVY LEAGUE SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

DENUZIO POOL
PRINCETON, NJ
MARCH 1, 2003

25 YD.
