On the back end of the 50 butterfly\/50 freestyle double, she paired her gold medal in the former with a second-place finish in prelims of the latter to easily get into the final.<\/p>\n<p>Setting the pace in semifinals was <strong>Kasia Wasick,<\/strong> the 30-year-old Polish swimming setting a personal best and national record 24.11. Sjostrom was second in 24.15. Sjostrom had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-sarah-sjostrom-speeds-way-to-top-seed-in-prelims-of-50-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the top seed in prelims<\/a> by .05 up on Wasick.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2022\/19th-fina-world-championships-sw-live-results\">Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-how-to-watch-swimming-action-plus-key-links\/\">How to Watch &amp; Key Links<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both Sjostrom and <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> were among four swimmers that faced a day of doubles in the 50 fly and 50 free. Sjostrom started with the 50 fly crown. Huske in fifth.<\/p>\n<p>The semis of the 50 free were more sedate for both. Huske had 14 minutes between the 100 fly final and her 50 free semifinal. Sjostrom, in the second semifinal heat, got slightly longer, as did 50 fly bronze medalist <strong>Zhang Yufei<\/strong> of China and seventh-place <strong>Marie Wattel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Huske was fourth in the first semifinal, but her time of 24.63 got her into the final in seventh. Zhang tied for fifth in 24.60, with Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Anna Hopkin.<\/strong> Wattel finished 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Behind Wasick and Sjostrom, Australian <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> was second in the second semifinal heat in 24.39 seconds. The second American in the race, <strong>Erika Brown,<\/strong> was fourth in 24.59 to easily get through to get to the final.
