All eight teams swimming in the final will start off with two male swimmers and use two female swimmers on the end.<\/p>\n<p>The Americans will lead off with <strong>Ryan Held<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-ryan-held-posts-swift-leadoff-as-team-usa-takes-top-seed-in-mixed-400-freestyle-relay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who swam under 48 for the first time in three years with his 47.85 leadoff leg in prelims<\/a>, and Held also split 46.99 on the men&#8217;s 400 free relay earlier in the meet. Held will be followed by men&#8217;s 100 free finalist\u00a0<strong>Brooks Curry\u00a0<\/strong>before teenagers\u00a0<strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan<\/strong> swim the last two legs. Huske already has a world title in the 100 fly and a bronze medal in the 100 free at this meet, while Curzan took bronze in the 100 back, and both were part of two U.S. medal-winning relays.<\/p>\n<p>In lane three, Australia will present the biggest challenge to the Americans with a team of\u00a0<strong>Jack Cartwright<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Madison Wilson<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Mollie O&#8217;Callaghan<\/strong>. Chalmers was the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the men&#8217;s 100 free and silver medalist in Tokyo, but he did not race the individual event in Budapest. O&#8217;Callaghan won her first individual world title Thursday in the women&#8217;s 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Canada will have a balanced lineup with\u00a0<strong>Josh Liendo<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Javier Acevedo<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kayla Sanchez<\/strong> and <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>. Notably, Liendo will race in three finals during the session, with the 50 free and 100 butterfly also on his slate.
