and open water double &#8211; won heat two ahead of Romanchuk.<\/p>\n<p>Wellbrock invited Romanchuk to join his group training under <strong>Bernd Berkhahn<\/strong> in Magdeburg, Germany, following the invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were alongside each other, going stroke for stroke, around the 29.8 mark with Wellbrock winning a sprint finish in the final metres in 14:50.12, Romanchuk a touch behind in 14:50.68.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> was third through in 14:50.71 as he seeks to add the 1500 crown to his 800 free title with <strong>Dan Jervis<\/strong> claiming the final spot in 14:56.89.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"><strong>Daniel Wiffen<\/strong> became the first Irishman to break 15 minutes in 14:57.66 to finish
