Leon Marchand The One To Watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>World Championships: US pair Carson Foster and Chase Kalisz lead 200IM Qualifiers; Leon Marchand The One To Watch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>US pair <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> and <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> will be looking to turn their silver and bronze medals in the 400IM into gold in the 200IM here in Budapest after impressive swims in this morning\u2019s World Championship heats.<\/p>\n<p>Foster (1:57.94) was impressive in holding off 2017 winner Kalisz (1:58.25) in today\u2019s third of five heats.<\/p>\n<p>Olympic bronze medallist Switzerland\u2019s <strong>Jeremy Desplanches<\/strong> (1:58.29) was the equal third fastest qualifier into tomorrow night\u2019s semi-finals with Japan\u2019s defending champion and three-time 400IM world champion <strong>Daiya Seto.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2022\/19th-fina-world-championships-sw-live-results\">Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-how-to-watch-swimming-action-plus-key-links\/\">How to Watch &amp; Key Links<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But there will be serious challengers from 400IM gold medallist here, the long-stroking Frenchman <strong>Leon Marchand<\/strong> \u2013 the eighth fastest qualifier in 1:58.70 \u2013 but after leading into the freestyle turn backed right off \u2013 conserving himself for tonight\u2019s 200m butterfly final.<\/p>\n<p>Also impressive were Hungary\u2019s world junior record holder, 19-year-old <strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> (1:58.47) and South African <strong>Matthew Sates<\/strong> (1:58.61).<\/p>\n<p>Down in 15<sup>th<\/sup> place is China\u2019s Olympic champion <strong>Wang Shun<\/strong> (1:59.51) who has won bronze in this event at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships and 2016 Rio Olympics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Championships: US pair Carson Foster and Chase Kalisz lead 200IM Qualifiers;
