Originally slated for Fukuoka, Japan, the meet was moved to Budapest when the original host city had to move its hosting duties to 2023. Now, the competition will unfold at the Duna Arena, which served as the site of the 2017 World Championships.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/world-championships-psych-sheets\/international-elite\/2022\/June\/18?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fresultlist.aspx%3Fmanage%3Dtrue%26ReturnUrl%3D%252Fadm-spi%252F%26page%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s edition of the World Championships will be unique, as several of the sport&#8217;s premier names have opted to bypass the event or have been sidelined. Big names such as Australia&#8217;s <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> have decided to focus their attention on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, which start in late July. Meanwhile, British power tandem of <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> and <strong>Duncan<\/strong> <strong>Scott<\/strong> will be absent, as Peaty recovers from a broken foot and Scott <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/duncan-scott-to-miss-world-championships-to-focus-on-recovery-from-covid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bounces back from a bout with COVID-19<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although some elite athletes will be absent, there will be plenty of starpower in the pool, headlined by the United States&#8217; <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> and <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, who will tackle multi-event schedules. Dressel will contest the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly on an individual basis while Ledecky will race the 400 freestyle, 800 free and 1500 free, with the 800 free offering the chance for Ledecky to capture a fifth consecutive world title in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> has her eyes on a sprint-freestyle double and has shown strong form in prepation for Worlds. Meanwhile, teenage standouts <strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> (Canada), <strong>David Popovici<\/strong> (Romania), <strong>Matthew Sates<\/strong> (South Africa) and <strong>Sunwoo Hwang<\/strong>
