The release of these lists has provided two pieces of news that impacts the landscape of several events.<\/p>\n<p>First, men&#8217;s 400 freestyle Olympic gold medalist <strong>Ahmed Hafnaoui<\/strong> is not listed. The 19-year-old Tunisian was an upset winner from lane eight in the Tokyo final, and he added a silver medal in the 1500 free at the Short Course World Championships in December, but he will not contend in any of the distance events next week. Hafnaoui has not recorded any world-ranked swims this year, but he is expected to enroll at the University of Indiana this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Second, we know which events Canadian teenage phenom\u00a0<strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> will compete in. McIntosh will race the 400 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 400 IM. She made her debut at the Tokyo Olympics as a freestyle-only swimmer, and she finished fourth in the 400 free and as part of Canada&#8217;s 800 free relay, and she was also ninth in the 200 free and 11th in the 800 free. However, McIntosh will focus this time on the 200 fly and 400 IM, both events in which she enters as the top-ranked swimmer in the world for 2022, in addition to the 400 free, while\u00a0<strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> represent Canada in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Hafnaoui, individual Olympic champion from Tokyo who are absent include Australians\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> (50 and 100 free) and <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> (200 and 400 free), the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lydia Jacoby\u00a0<\/strong>(100 breast), South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tatjana Schoenmaker\u00a0<\/strong>(200 fly), Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> (100 breast) and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong> (100 and 200 back). Most of these swimmers had announced plans to miss the meet, including Peaty as he recovers from a foot injury, while Jacoby did not qualify for the U.S. team and Rylov is among the Russian athletes barred from the meet because of the country&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><a
