{"id":506254,"date":"2022-06-08T10:12:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T17:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=506254"},"modified":"2022-06-08T10:12:30","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T17:12:30","slug":"utah-hires-alum-brody-lewis-as-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/utah-hires-alum-brody-lewis-as-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Utah Hires Alum Brody Lewis as Assistant Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Utah Hires Alum Brody Lewis as Assistant Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former Utah swimmer<strong> Brody Lewis<\/strong> has joined <strong>Jonas Persson\u2019s<\/strong> staff as an assistant coach for the 2022-23 season, <a href=\"https:\/\/utahutes.com\/news\/2022\/6\/7\/mens-swimming-diving-swimming-dive-adds-former-ute-brody-lewis-to-coaching-staff.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the school announced Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lewis graduated from Utah in 2020. He spent last season as an assistant coach for the women\u2019s program and the University of Northern Colorado, where he helped guide eight Western Athletic Conference champions last season. Lewis also oversaw national and international recruiting efforts and dryland programming as well as team-building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to bring Brody back to Utah as a former team captain,&#8221; Persson said in a team statement. &#8220;He brings great leadership qualities, knowledge of the program and his passion for Utah athletics is unmatched.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lewis spent a season as the head coach at East High School and three years as an assistant for Swim Utah\u2019s 11-to-14 age group. He joins the first staff for Persson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/utah-hires-jonas-persson-as-head-swimming-and-diving-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who was hired this spring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The native of Greeley, Colo., was a team captain at Utah, qualifying for Pac-12s each of his four years. he was a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic Team selection and CSCAA Scholar All-American. A leader in and out of the pool, he earned Utah Athletics Dr. Chris Hill Leadership Award and the Utah Swim &amp; Dive Ute Proud Coach&#8217;s Award, and he represented Utah at the Pac-12 SAAC conference.<\/p>\n<p>He owns the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 200 breaststroke and sixth-fastest in the 100 breast.
