Team USA swimmers Rhyan White<\/strong> and Kensey McMahon<\/strong> have announced they will remain at the University of Alabama for a fifth year.<\/p>\n

The NCAA ruled anyone who had a season or postseason affected by the COVID-19 pandemic could apply for a fifth year of eligibility.<\/p>\n

Both swimmers have helped Alabama rise into a trophy contender at the NCAA Championships.<\/a><\/p>\n

White has been an All-American multiple years for the Crimson Tide and made the 2020 Olympic Team, competing in both backstroke events in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

“Unfinished business to take care of next year with @alabamaswimdive<\/a>. I\u2019m proud of how far I\u2019ve come wearing that ?\ufe0f cap and blessed with the chance to put it on for a #5thyear<\/a>. The best is yet to come!<\/span>” White posted on Instagram.<\/p>\n

White was the 2021 FINA Short Course World Champion in the 200 backstroke and part of the silver medal Team USA 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n

At the Tokyo Olympics, White earned the silver medal on the 400 medley relay. At Alabama, she is a 10-time All-American. She was the 2021 SEC Swimmer of the Year.<\/p>\n

McMahon made a similar post on Instagram: “Not ready to hang up the cap & goggles yet! Excited to continue on for #ONE<\/a> more year with @alabamaswimdive<\/a><\/span>.”<\/p>\n

McMahon has earned All-American honors in the 1650 freestyle three times and 500 freestyle twice for Alabama.<\/p>\n

In April, McMahon earned a top-10 finish in the 10-kilometer open water race at the 2022 United States Open Water Championships at Lynn Hall Beach Park in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., taking eighth overall and fifth among Americans.<\/p>\n

With her finish at the U.S. Open Water Championships, McMahon earned a place on the U.S. Open Water National Team after previously earning a place on the U.S. Swimming National Team in the summer of 2019.<\/p>\n

She will join Alabama teammate White at the World Championships. White qualified in the 200 backstroke at the International Team Trials last month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
