the men\u2019s 50 backstroke, women\u2019s 50 breaststroke, men\u2019s 50 butterfly, women\u2019s 400 IM, men\u2019s 100 freestyle, women\u2019s 100 backstroke, men\u2019s 100 breaststroke, women\u2019s 50 freestyle, men\u2019s 200 backstroke, women\u2019s 200 breaststroke, men\u2019s 200 butterfly, women\u2019s 100 butterfly, men\u2019s 200 IM, women\u2019s 200 freestyle and men\u2019s 400 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s<strong> Kristof Milak<\/strong> broke the Mare Nostrum Series record in the 200 butterfly and a couple of Barcelona stop records also fell.<\/p>\n<p><a 800 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Simona Quadarella<\/strong> dominated the 800 freestyle race, touching the wall in 8:26.21 to win the race by 10 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s<strong> Miyu Namba<\/strong> was second (8:26.71), followed by Brazil\u2019s <strong>Gabrielle Roncatto<\/strong> (8:38.04).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA\u2019s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 50 backstroke with an extremely fast 24.64 to break the Barcelona stop\u2019s record in the Mare Nostrum Series.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s <strong>Pieter Coetze<\/strong> finished second in 24.78, followed by Japan\u2019s <strong>Ryosuke Irie<\/strong> (24.94).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Competing for the University of Texas,<strong> Anna Elendt<\/strong> claimed victory in the women\u2019s 50 breaststroke, touching the wall in 30.10.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s<strong> Lara Van Niekerk<\/strong> finished second (30.35), followed by Brazil\u2019s<strong> Jhennifer Conceicao<\/strong> (30.54).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brazil\u2019s Nicholas Santos broke the record of the Barcelona stop in the Mare Nostrum Series in the 50 butterfly, touching the wall in 23.03.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s<strong> Thomas Ceccon<\/strong> took second in 23.23, ahead of Hungary\u2019s <strong>Szebasztian Szabo<\/strong> (23.45).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> took eighth in 24.10 competing in his second event of the day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>World record holder<strong> Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> of Hungary continued her dominance in the 400 IM at the Mare Nostrum Series. Hosszu won the race in 4:37.04 to finish three seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s <strong>Ageha Tanigawa<\/strong> took second in 4:40.50, followed by Great Britain\u2019s<strong> Abbie Wood<\/strong>, who touched the wall in 4:40.80.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s<strong> Thomas Dean<\/strong> claimed victory in the men\u2019s 100 freestyle, reaching the wall in 48.63 to hold off the field.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s<strong> Alessandro Miressi<\/strong> took second in 49.98, followed by Brazil\u2019s<strong> Gabriel Santos<\/strong> (49.18).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong> put together a strong race to win the women\u2019s 100 backstroke at the Mare Nostrum Series, touching the wall in 58.93. She was one of two swimmers to break a minute in the race.<\/p>\n<p>Cascade\u2019s<strong> Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> took second in 59.90, followed by Czech Republic\u2019s<strong> Simona Kubova<\/strong> (1:01.42).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> of the Netherlands continued his strong performances in the breaststroke on the international stage. The Dutch swimmer won the men\u2019s 100 breast in 59.24 to win by more than half a second.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Nicolo Martenenghi<\/strong> took second in 59.66, followed by Japan\u2019s<strong> Ryuya Mura<\/strong> (1:00.26).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain sprinter <strong>Anna Hopkin<\/strong> got to the wall first to win the women\u2019s 50 freestyle, touching in 24.65.<\/p>\n<p>A pair of Dutch sprinters were just behind as<strong> Valerie Van Roon<\/strong> looks second in 24.84 and <strong>Kim Busch<\/strong> was third in 24.95.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s<strong> Luke Greenbank<\/strong> used a quick start and hung on to win the 200 backstroke in 1:56.88.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s <strong>Pieter Coetze,<\/strong> competing in his second event of the day, took second in 1:57.85.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary\u2019s <strong>Adam Telegdy<\/strong> was third in 1:57.96.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 200 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Molly Renshaw<\/strong> led from the first 50 of the women\u2019s 200 breaststroke and hung on to win a close race in 2:25.47.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland\u2019s<strong> Mona McSharry<\/strong> was just behind in 2:25.58, while Sweden\u2019s <strong>Sophie Hansson<\/strong> finished third in 2:26.70.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hungary\u2019s<strong> Kristof Milak<\/strong> broke the over-all Mare Nostrum Series record in the 200 butterfly, winning in 1:53.89.<\/p>\n<p>The previous mark was 1:54.42 held by South Africa\u2019s<strong> Chad le Clos<\/strong>, who finished fourth in this race (1:56.38).<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland\u2019s<strong> Noe Ponti<\/strong> took second (1:56.03), followed by Brazil\u2019s<strong> Leonardo de Deus<\/strong> (1:56.18).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sweden\u2019s<strong> Louise Hansson<\/strong> was the only swimmer to break 27 seconds in her first 50 and continued on to the victory in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 57.29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong> finished second in 58.27, ahead of Texas\u2019 <strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> (58.64).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s <strong>Matthew Sates<\/strong>, fresh off his success at the NCAA Championships, claimed victory in the 200 IM.
