South Carolina Promotes Andy Eaton to Full Assistant Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andy Eaton<\/strong> has been promoted from a volunteer assistant to a full assistant at South Carolina, the school announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Eaton arrived in Columbia after two seasons as an assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall. They were two of the best seasons in Diplomats history, with the men\u2019s team winning its first conference title in a decade. Eaton led the distance freestyle and 200 stroke groups. He was also the school\u2019s aquatics director<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We’re very excited to be able to promote Andy to a full-time assistant coaching role,” South Carolina coach Jeff Poppell<\/strong> said in a university statement<\/a>. “From the first day Andy joined our program, he has been 100 percent invested in our student-athletes and their success both in and out of the pool. His technical knowledge of the sport, relentless work ethic, and commitment to aiding our team in any way possible have been both impressive and remarkable. I’m happy we had a position available to be able to keep him with us longer and have no doubts about his ability to continue helping us improve further as a program in the years ahead.”<\/p>\n

Eaton was a 24-time All-American at Division III powerhouse Kenyon College. He earned his bachelor\u2019s degree there and led the Lords to four NCAA Division III titles.<\/p>\n
