Six-time Olympic medalist\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong>\u00a0took to social media on Sunday morning to announce that he and girlfriend\u00a0Bridget<\/strong>\u00a0Konttinen<\/strong>\u00a0are engaged. Murphy posted several pictures to his Twitter account, including a shot of the Olympic champion and world-record holder down on one me, with Konttinen holding her hands to face.<\/p>\n

The Week That Was #3: Mike Bottom Receives Contract Extension From University of Michigan<\/a><\/h3>\n

The University of Michigan announced that the contract of head swimming coach\u00a0Mike Bottom<\/strong>\u00a0will be extended through the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

Bottom has been the head men\u2019s coach for the past 13 years and the head women\u2019s coach for the past eight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled to extend Mike\u2019s leadership of our men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving programs well into the future,\u201d Michigan Athletic Director\u00a0Warde Manuel<\/strong>\u00a0said in a release. \u201cMike is passionate about this university, the sport of swimming and diving, and his student-athletes, and I look forward to his continued enthusiasm and guidance of our combined programs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ohio University has received its first verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from in-state standout\u00a0Ashley Sallows<\/strong>\u00a0of Delaware, Ohio.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Ohio University! I want to thank my family, coaches, especially Lew Timberman, teammates, and friends for helping me reach this point. I can\u2019t wait to be a part of a team that is high-achieving in the pool and in the classroom. GO BOBCATS!\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
