The injury will prevent Peaty from chasing fourth consecutive world titles in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke at Duna Arena, where he would have been a heavy favorite.<\/p>\n<p>Peaty is simply the latest superstar to announce his absence from the World Champs, although his medical reason differs from other standouts who will not be in Budapest. A number of athletes, notably Australians <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>, have opted to place their focus on the Commonwealth Games, which are scheduled for Birmingham from late July into early August.<\/p>\n<p>At last summer\u2019s Olympic Games in Tokyo, gold medals were awarded in 28 individual events \u2013 14 for each gender. Here is a look at the reigning Olympic champions who will not compete at the World Championships, and the reason for their absence.
