Early on in the meet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/deaflympics-opens-with-strong-medal-count-from-usa-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the U.S. and Ukraine had strong performances on Day 1-3<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That success continued on Day 4 as the Ukraine went 1-2 in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke. <strong>Oleksii Kolomiiets<\/strong> winning gold in 1:05.67, followed by compatriot<strong> Vladyslav Hrystenko (<\/strong>1:07.57). <strong>Matthew Klotz<\/strong> of the U.S. won the bronze (1:07.76).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 200 butterfly, <strong>Carli Cronk<\/strong> won the gold in 2:18.40, follows by Ukraine\u2019s<strong> Anita Makhnyk (<\/strong>2:31.72) and Hungary\u2019s <strong>Orsolya Zsilinski<\/strong> (2:43.14).<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 200 butterfly saw Japan\u2019s <strong>Ryutaro Ibara<\/strong> claim gold in 56.18, Poland\u2019s <strong>Konrad Powroznik<\/strong> took the silver in 56.60 and Klotz won the bronze (56.91).<\/p>\n<p>Latvia\u2019s <strong>Zane Embrekte<\/strong> earned the gold medal in the women\u2019s 50 freestyle (26.62). Italy\u2019s <strong>Sara Maragno<\/strong> took the silver (27.85) and <strong>Brooke Thompson<\/strong> on the U.S. earned the bronze (27.981).<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. won the 800 free relay with <strong>Emily Massengale, Kaitlyn Wewatherby, Brooke Thompson<\/strong> and<strong> Carli Cronk<\/strong> touching the wall in 8:59.55.\u00a0 The Ukraine took silver (9:04.86), followed by Italy (9:06.43).<\/p>\n<p>On Day 5 of the Deaflympics, Japan\u2019s<strong> Satoi Fujihara<\/strong> won gold in the 1500 free (16:21.69), ahead of Italy\u2019s<strong> Federico Tamborrino<\/strong> (16:29.60) and Germany\u2019s <strong>Mueller Niklas (<\/strong>17:01.54).<\/p>\n<p>Klotz won the 100 backstroke (56.52) ahead of Germany\u2019s<strong> Lars Kochmann (<\/strong>58.21) and Ukraine\u2019s V<strong>ladyslav Kremliakov<\/strong> (58.34).<\/p>\n<p>Poland\u2019s<strong> Klaudia Jarzewicz<\/strong> claimed gold in the 50 backstroke (32.18), ahead of Massengale (32.21) and Thompson (33.27).<\/p>\n<p>Ibara won the 200 IM (2:07.90) ahead of Powroznik (2:10.22) and Collin Davis of the U.S. (2:14.98).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deaflympics2021.com\/results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Davis, Thompson, Cronk and Klotz earned gold in the mixed 400 free relay (3:45.90). Ukraine took the silver (3:47.87) and Poland claimed bronze (3:52.85).<\/p>\n<p>On Day 6 of the Deaflympics, Poland\u2019s <strong>Julia Dragan<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 800 free (9:26.27). Itally went 2-3 with <strong>Noemi Canino<\/strong> (9:38.12) and <strong>Jessica Diddoro<\/strong> (9:39.95).<\/p>\n<p>Kolomiiets won the 200 breaststroke (2:24.65) ahead of Hrystenko (2:26.48) and<strong> Daniel Pletenets<\/strong> of the U.S. (2:31.74).<\/p>\n<p>Embrekte won the 100 freestyle (57.82) ahead of Maragno (1:00.48) and Thompson (1:00.67).<\/p>\n<p>Ibara won the 200 freestyle (1:54.82) ahead of Fujihara (1:55.22) and Brazil\u2019s <strong>Guilherme Kabbach<\/strong> (1:56.31).<\/p>\n<p>On Day 7 of the Deaflympics, Massengale, Weatherby, Cronk and Thompson won the 400 medley relay (4:31.31) aread of the Ukraine (4:26.05) and Poland (4:39.29).<\/p>\n<p>Cronk (2:22.04) and Massengale (2:31.63) went 1-2 in the 200 backstroke with Jarzewicz taking the bronze (2:34.75).<\/p>\n<p>Klotz won the 50 backstroke (26.33) ahead of Kochmann (26.76) and Kremliakov (27.19).<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s<strong> Iryna Tereshchenko<\/strong> claimed gold in the women\u2019s 100 breaststroke (1:15.42) ahead of Italy\u2019s <strong>Gaia Maragno<\/strong> (1:16.79) and Poland\u2019s<strong> Julia Chmielewska<\/strong> (1:16.90).<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s<strong> Vladyslav Adamovych, Artem Karnysh, Ivan Zinenko<\/strong> and <strong>Maksym Dudnyk<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 800 free relay (8:02.72) ahead of Poland ( 8:09.24) and the U.S. (8:12.45).<\/p>\n<p>On Day 8 of the Deaflympics, Cronk won the 400 free (4:29.19) ahead of Dragan (435.53) and Canino (4:40.83).<\/p>\n<p>Powroznik won the 200 butterfly (2:08.05), ahead of Argentina\u2019s<strong> Emanuel Llanos (<\/strong>2:10.81) and Ukraine\u2019s<strong> Rotyslav Yakubovskyi<\/strong> (2:12.36).<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s<strong> Sara Maragno<\/strong> won the 50 butterfly (29.08) ahead of Tarasenko (30.02) and Tereshchenko (30.14).<\/p>\n<p>Klotz won the men\u2019s 50 free (23.45) ahead of Ukraine\u2019s Illia Sultanov (23.73) and Kochmann (24.68).<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. capped the Deaflympics with a gold medal in the mixed 400 medley relay.
