U.S. International Team Trials: Caeleb Dressel Downs U.S. Open Record in 50 Fly<\/strong><\/p>\n

The math was tantalizingly simple in the 50 butterfly at U.S. International Team Trials Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Two Olympians. One spot at Worlds. One fast but thrilling race.<\/p>\n

Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> and Michael Andrew<\/strong> duked it out, Dressel coming out on top by just .03 seconds. Both swimmers were under the U.S. Open record.<\/p>\n

Dressel got to the wall first in 22.84. He holds the American record in the event at 22.35 from Worlds in Gwangju, South Korea, in 2019. His swim Wednesday downed the 13-year-old U.S. Open mark set by Bryan Lundquist<\/strong> in Indianapolis in 2009.<\/p>\n
