{"id":503341,"date":"2022-04-26T11:58:36","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T18:58:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=503341"},"modified":"2022-04-26T13:11:17","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T20:11:17","slug":"ash-cox-announced-as-british-swimmings-interim-ceo-ahead-of-jack-buckners-departure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ash-cox-announced-as-british-swimmings-interim-ceo-ahead-of-jack-buckners-departure\/","title":{"rendered":"Ash Cox Announced As British Swimming&#8217;s Interim CEO Ahead Of Jack Buckner&#8217;s Departure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Ash Cox<\/strong> will become <strong>British Swimming<\/strong>&#8216;s interim CEO following the departure\u00a0of incumbent <strong>Jack Buckner <\/strong>to <strong>UK Athletics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cox, who is the current director of legal and governance for British Swimming and has been at the organisation since 2014, will take over the chief executive role on a temporary basis once Buckner departs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cox will begin a transition period on 16 May, working with Buckner to oversee the final weeks of his tenure before he leaves the organisation on 30 June.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the search for a new, permanent CEO of British Swimming progresses, Cox will oversee the organisational running of the governing body throughout a busy summer that features the World Aquatics Championships, World Para-Swimming Championships, Commonwealth Games, European Championships and multiple junior international events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He will work with the British Swimming board and interim chairman <strong>Adele Stach-Kevitz<\/strong> throughout this process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stach-Kevitz said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It is fantastic to have Ash on board as Interim CEO during this transition period for British Swimming. With over 20 years\u2019 experience in the sports sector, he has a wealth of knowledge and expertise and a fantastic insight about the organisation and our sports, strong relationships across domestic and international aquatics communities and maintains an athlete-centred approach throughout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I am excited to be working with Ash in this new capacity as we build towards the long-term future of British Swimming &#8211; and we are also grateful to Jack for his ongoing support during this transition period, as his highly successful period as our CEO begins drawing to a close.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On his appointment, Cox said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I am delighted to be given the opportunity to play such a pivotal role during this transition period for British Swimming and I am looking forward to working with the Board to continue to deliver its strong strategy and vision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ash Cox will become British Swimming&#8216;s interim CEO following the departure\u00a0of incumbent Jack Buckner to UK Athletics.
