{"id":503253,"date":"2022-04-26T12:00:05","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T19:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=503253"},"modified":"2022-04-26T09:01:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T16:01:48","slug":"usa-swimming-international-team-trials-day-1-finals-heat-sheets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-international-team-trials-day-1-finals-heat-sheets\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Swimming International Team Trials: Day 1 Finals Heat Sheets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The USA Swimming International Team Trials continued with the Day 1 finals Tuesday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The events on tap are the women&#8217;s 200 butterfly, men&#8217;s 200 butterfly, women&#8217;s 100 freestyle, men&#8217;s 100 freestyle and the final heat of the women&#8217;s 800 freestyle and men&#8217;s 1500 free.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-us-international-team-trials-day-1-finals-heat-sheets-day-1\/usa-senior-national\/2022\/April\/26?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 Finals Heat Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 800 free will see <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> headline the final heat, along with <strong>Leah Smith, Katie Grimes<\/strong> and <strong>Bella Sims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 1500 free will feature <strong>Bobby Finke, Will Gallant<\/strong> and <strong>Charlie Clark<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 200 butterfly, <strong>Hali Flickinger<\/strong> turned in a dominant performance in the event, taking the top seed with a swim of 2:07.75. Flickinger, swimming for Sun Devil Aquatics, was nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the field and will have a middle lane for tonight\u2019s final. <strong>Charlotte Hook<\/strong> took the second seed at the USA Swimming International Team Trials in 2:09.51 to hold off Texas\u2019 <strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> (2:09.71) by two tenths of a second. Olympian <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> took the fourth seed in 2:09.83, just one hundredth ahead of Michigan\u2019s<strong> Olivia Carter<\/strong> (2:09.84), the 2021 NCAA champion.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly, Cal\u2019s <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> took the top seed after touching the wall in 1:54.34. Olympian <strong>Zach Harting<\/strong> took the second spot in 1:55.83, followed by fellow Olympian <strong>Chase Kalis<\/strong>z (1:56.04) at the USA Swimming International Team Trials. Dart\u2019s<strong> Luca Urlando<\/strong> took the fourth seed, touching the wall in 1:56.32, just ahead of <strong>Alexander Colson<\/strong> (1:56.50).<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 100 freestyle packed with seven Olympians, <strong>Natalie Hinds <\/strong>took the top seed in 53.77. She was the lone swimmer in the field to break 54 seconds. Olympic teammate <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> took the second seed in 54.16, tied with fellow Olympian <strong>Claire Curzan,<\/strong> who also touched in 54.16. Both made the Olympic team in the 100 butterfly. <strong>Mallory Comerford<\/strong> made her return to the elite at the USA Swimming International Team Trials. After having a tough Olympic Trials, she was back to form with a 54.18 to take the fourth seed. Olympic gold medalist <strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 54.19 with just three hundredths of a second between her and the second seed. Olympian <strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> took the sixth seed (54.27) ahead of fellow Olympians <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> (54.32) and <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (54.58).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 100 freestyle, Olympic gold medalist <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> touched out NCAA champion <strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong> to win the final heat and take the top seed heading into tonight\u2019s final in 48.12, not his best time but solid for a prelims performance at the USA Swimming International Team Trials. Olympian <strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> took he second seed ahead of another Olympian<strong>, Drew Kibler (<\/strong>48..24). Curry, who made the Tokyo Olympics as a relay swimmer, took the fourth seed in 48.36. Florida\u2019s <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> took the fifth seed (48.50) ahead of <strong>Hunter Armstrong<\/strong> (48.55), Olympic medalist <strong>Zach Apple<\/strong> (48.57) and <strong>Justin Ress<\/strong> (48.73) to round out the finalists for the USA Swimming International Team Trials final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The USA Swimming International Team Trials continued with the Day 1 finals Tuesday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
