﻿{"id":502930,"date":"2022-04-19T18:32:08","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T01:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=502930"},"modified":"2022-04-19T19:48:49","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T02:48:49","slug":"united-states-and-australia-will-renew-duel-in-the-pool-rivalry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/united-states-and-australia-will-renew-duel-in-the-pool-rivalry\/","title":{"rendered":"United States and Australia Will Renew Duel in the Pool Rivalry; Enticing Matchups On Horizon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>United States and Australia Will Renew Duel in the Pool Rivalry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>World swimming\u2019s two super powers, the United States and Australia, are set to renew hostilities when the Duel In The Pool makes a return to Sydney.\u00a0Australian powerbrokers, fittingly led by U.S. legend <strong>Tracy Caulkins<\/strong> \u2013 now president of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimming.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swimming Australia<\/a> &#8211; will unveil details of the fourth Duel In The Pool at the iconic Bondi Icebergs pool in Sydney during a Wednesday afternoon press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Big-time swimming in Australia is set to return to the \u201cPool Of Dreams,\u201d the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, from Aug. 19-21. The venue hosted the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, the record-breaking 1999 Pan Pacs and the 2007 Duel In the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>The event could well see the likes of U.S. superstars<strong> Katie Ledecky<\/strong> and <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> against Australia\u2019s Olympic champions <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> and <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>. The United States and Australia met in the first three versions of the Duel in the Pool, in 2003, 2005 and 2007, with the United States winning each edition.
