In February, the Firehawks finished fourth at its conference championships.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Regarding his commitment, he said:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI am excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Tennessee Southern. When I visited the campus and met Coach Peterson I felt he can help me swim at a higher level. The campus has a feel-good atmosphere and I am certain that I am going to excel as a student and as an athlete. GO FIREHAWKS!!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rodriguez does his club swimming with Nitro Swimming in Cedar Park, Texas. The USA Swimming Gold Medal team has produced elite swimmers such as University of Texas standouts Will Licon and Tate Jackson.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">His best times include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">100 breast &#8211; 57.99<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">200 breast &#8211; 2:08.69<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">200 IM &#8211; 1:59.60<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">100 free &#8211; 50.23<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A senior at Memorial High School in McAllen, Texas, Rodriguez is the school record holder in the 100 breast and 200 IM. This past February, he represented his school at the UIL 5A State Championship, where he finished ninth in the 100 breast (58.02) and 19th in the 200 IM (1:59.79).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">With The University of Tennessee Southern team only two years old, Rodriguez will have an instant impact as his best times in the 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM are significantly faster than the Firehawk school records.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Additionally, his best times in all three events would have scored in the A-final at
