\nJoining Georgia at midseason, Matthew Sates set a goal to win the 500 at NCAAs. The freshman from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, led a 1-2 Bulldog finish, using a late charge to set a meet record of 4:06.61, ahead of last year\u2019s champ, Jake Magahey.<\/p>\n

\nOn back-to-back days, Texas A&M\u2019s Kurtis Mathews turned in a springboard sweep, both times beating Indiana\u2019s Andrew Capobianco, who won the 3-meter competition in 2019 and 2021. When Mathews won the 1-meter, it marked the first time a male diver from A&M had claimed an NCAA title.<\/p>\n
