Douglass is joined by Women\u2019s Diver of the Year <strong>Mia Vallee<\/strong> of Miami. UVA added the top freshman honor on the women\u2019s side courtesy of <strong>Gretchen Walsh.<\/strong> NC State\u2019s <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> is the men\u2019s freshman of the year.<\/p>\n<p>On the coaching side, <strong>Todd DeSorbo<\/strong> added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ron-aitken-todd-desorbo-nathan-manley-earn-usopc-coaching-honors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">another honor this week<\/a> as the Women\u2019s Swimming Coach of the Year, joined by men\u2019s counterpart <strong>Braden Holloway<\/strong> of NC State. <strong>Randy Ableman<\/strong> of Miami swept the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Diving Coach of the Year Awards.<\/p>\n<h4>ACC Swimmer of the Year Awards<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Year: Kate Douglass, Virginia<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s Swimmer of the Year: Nicolas Albiero, Louisville<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Diver of the Year: Mia Vall\u00e9e, Miami<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s Diver of the Year: Anton Down-Jenkins, North Carolina<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Freshman of the Year: Gretchen Walsh, Virginia<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s Freshman of the Year: Aiden Hayes, NC State<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Swimming Coach of the Year: Todd DeSorbo, Virginia<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s Swimming Coach of the Year: Braden Holloway, NC State<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Diving Coach of the Year: Randy Ableman, Miami<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Douglass reached new heights in her junior season as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/cscaa-awards-kate-douglass-leon-marchand-lead-year-end-honorees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swimmer of the Meet at the NCAA Championships<\/a>. She won t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kate-douglass-builds-legacy-as-one-of-greatest-college-swimmers-in-history-after-unprecedented-3-american-records-in-3-different-strokes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hree NCAA titles<\/a> \u2013 the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 breaststroke \u2013 and helped UVA to four relay titles. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Albiero repeats as the honor in his senior season at Louisville. A seven-time All-American, he finished third in the 200 backstroke and sixth in both the 100 fly and 100 back at NCAAs. All four Cardinals relays he was a part o earned All-American status. Albiero won the 200 fly at ACCs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-acc-championships-nick-albiero-swims-second-fastest-time-ever-in-200-fly-nc-state-extends-lead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for a fifth consecutive season<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vallee was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/miamis-mia-vallee-ekes-into-final-emerges-with-gold-in-one-meter-diving-at-ncaa-champs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA gold medalist in the 1-meter springboard<\/a> with a score of 365.76, which set the NCAA Championships record. The ACC champ in 3-meter finished fourth in that event at NCAA. A native of Montreal, Vallee also won a silver medal in the 1-meter at ACCs.<\/p>\n<p>Down-Jenkins capped a stellar career at the University of North Carolina. The native of New Zealand placed sixth on 3-meter at NCAAs and eighth on 1-meter. He won the latter title at ACCs and was the 3-meter runner-up.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-womens-championship-virginias-gretchen-walsh-fourth-all-time-to-win-100-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the NCAA title in the 100 free<\/a> in her first championships in a school record 46.05. The Nashville, Tenn., native helped the Cavaliers win four relays and earned All-American recognition in both the 50 free and 100 back.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes finished seventh in the 100 fly and 14th in the 200 fly in his first NCAAs. He also helped NC State finish fourth in the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>DeSorbo repeated as the CSCAA Women\u2019s Team Coach of the Year, helping UVA to its second straight national championship. He led the Cavaliers to a fourth ACC title in five years and their 18th overall, the most in conference history.<\/p>\n<p>Holloway is the men\u2019s coach of the year for the eighth time in 10 seasons. NC State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-acc-championships-nc-state-cruises-to-mens-title-virginia-tech-posts-three-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won the men\u2019s ACC title<\/a> for the seventh time in eight seasons, then matched a program-best fourth-place result at NCAAs.<\/p>\n<p>Ableman is up to nine Diving Coach of the Year accolades, five men\u2019s and four women\u2019s. He swept the awards for a second time, the other in 2019. He coached three women\u2019s All-Americans, led by Vallee, and two men.
