{"id":502201,"date":"2022-04-07T10:08:27","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T17:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=502201"},"modified":"2022-04-07T10:08:27","modified_gmt":"2022-04-07T17:08:27","slug":"maxime-grousset-goes-48-03-in-100-free-final-at-french-elite-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maxime-grousset-goes-48-03-in-100-free-final-at-french-elite-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Maxime Grousset Goes 48.03 In 100 Free Final At French Elite Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong> shaved 0.06secs off his prelims time to go 48.03 in the 100 free at the <strong>French Elite Championships<\/strong> in Limoges.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveffn.com\/cgi-bin\/index.php?competition=77853\">Meet page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yohann-ndoye-brouard-outduels-mewen-tomac-at-french-elite-champs\/\">Day two wrap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/marie-wattel-wins-100-fly-to-start-french-elite-championships\/\">Day one wrap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/france-looking-to-next-generation-ahead-of-paris-2024-with-world-trials-set-to-start\/\/\">Preview<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"social-share\">\n<div class=\"share-links\">\n<div class=\"sfsi_widget sfsi_shortcode_container\">\n<div>The six-day meet in Limoges is the premier selection competition for the World Championships in Budapest in June though France is using a hybrid selection model with various meets considered.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The 22-year-old &#8211; who was fourth in Tokyo &#8211; went 48.09 in the morning heats to replace <strong>Lewis Burras<\/strong> at the top of the world rankings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lewis-burras-goes-third-all-time-in-british-100-free-rankings-with-48-15-prelim-at-world-trials\/\/\">despite the Briton coming within 0.06secs<\/a> in 48.15 at his own national championships about an hour later.<\/p>\n<p>Grousset, who claimed the 50 fly spot for Budapest ahead of 2015 world champion <strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong> earlier in the week, returned in the evening to lower that further in a world-leading time.<\/p>\n<p>Out in 23.33 and back in 24.70, Grousset enjoyed a clear margin of victory over second-placed <strong>Hadrian Salvan<\/strong> whose time of 48.51 was also inside the cut of 48.77. <strong>Charles Rihoux<\/strong> was third in 49.25.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> elevated herself into the world top five with 1:56.47 over 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 European champion split 27.05\/56.71\/1:26.82 before coming home in 29.65 to go fourth in the world rankings headed by <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> and her time of 1:54.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oceane Carnez<\/strong> (1:59.70) and <strong>Lucile Tessariol<\/strong> (2:00.22) completed the podium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mary-Ambre Moluh<\/strong> set her second age group record of the meet as she went 27.70 in the 50 back.<\/p>\n<p>It qualified the 16-year-old &#8211; who does not turn 17 until September &#8211; for her second event at world titles to add to the 100 back with <strong>Analia Pigree<\/strong> also inside the cut of 28.22 in 27.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong> was third in 28.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Damien Joly<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 800 free in 7:51.25 &#8211; well within the cut of 7:53.11 &#8211; ahead of <strong>Joris Bouchaut<\/strong> (7:54.37) and <strong>Logan Fontaine<\/strong> (7:54.71).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noyan Taylan<\/strong> overhauled Algeria&#8217;s <strong>Jaouad Syoud<\/strong> on the third 50 to claim the 200 fly title in 1:57.23 to 1:57.88.\u00a0<strong>Clement Secchi<\/strong> was third in 1:58.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antoine Viquerat<\/strong> edged <strong>Carl Aitkaci<\/strong> by 0.02 in the men&#8217;s 50 breaststroke, winning in 27.92 to 27.94 with\u00a0Manaudou third in 28.23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maxime Grousset shaved 0.06secs off his prelims time to go 48.03 in the 100 free at the French Elite Championships in Limoges.
