Monday\u2019s first night delivered five FINA A cuts, part of the hybrid selection model.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cbda.org.br\/cbda\/natacao\/evento\/35882\/campeonato-brasileiro-absoluto-de-natacao#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Conceicao led the way in the 100 breast. She had gone 1:07.13 at Sette Colli in 2021 to set the Brazilian record. She went 1:07.92 in prelims Monday morning, then blasted a 1:07.12 at night. That\u2019s under the FINA A standard of 1:07.43.<\/p>\n<p>Despite those times, the 24-year-old did not swim at the Tokyo Olympics. She swam at the Rio Games in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Conceicao was one of two FINA A cuts from women. <strong>Viviane Jungblut<\/strong> won the 400 freestyle in 4:09.52, just under a second within the FINA cut. She\u2019s zeroing in on the national record in that event, held by <strong>Joanna Maranhao<\/strong> at 4:09.41 since 2017. Jungblut owns the 800 and 1,500 free national records.<\/p>\n<p>The other women\u2019s event win went to <strong>Gabrielle Goncalves,<\/strong> who won the 400 individual medley in 4:46.44. That\u2019s shy of the FINA A standard by more than three seconds.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, both <strong>Guilherme Costa<\/strong> and <strong>Fernando Scheffer<\/strong> were under the A standard in the 400 free. Costa won the race in 3:47.42, withing two seconds of his national record from Brazilian Olympic Trials last spring. Scheffer, the national record-holder in the 200 free, was second in 3:48.13, .02 under the A standard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephan Steverink<\/strong> delivered a stellar swim to get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stephan-steverink-the-boy-from-brazil-with-a-dutch-double-decision-a-paris-2024-goal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his first senior international berth<\/a>. The 18-year-old went 4:16.44 in the 400 IM, dropping 2.5 seconds off his seed time and upsetting top seed Brandonn Almeida. Almeida, who has been in the 4:13s, went 4:18.84 for second place. Leonardo Santos was third in 4:20.92. The FINA A cut is 4:17.48.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Felipe Franca Silva<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 100 breast in 59.88. That\u2019s shy of the FINA A standard (59.75), but Silva holds the Brazilian record in 59.01.
