USA Swimming took to social media to announce that the race was reviewed, and officials deemed Marchand\u2019s performance fully legal.<\/p>\n<p>Coming off a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-mens-championships-leon-marchand-breaks-dressel-200-im-mark-with-137-69\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sensational showing at last week\u2019s NCAA Championships<\/a>, where he captured a pair of titles, the Arizona State freshman was equally impressive in the 400 medley at the Northside Swim Center. However, after clocking a world-leading time of 4:10.38, Marchand was disqualified for turning on his back during the freestyle leg.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth-place finisher in the 400 medley at last summer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympic Games<\/a> in Tokyo, Marchand dominated the event in San Antonio, evidenced by the Frenchman\u2019s nine-second triumph over American Jay Litherland. Marchand went out in 57.36 for the opening butterfly leg and split 1:05.03 on backstroke.
