Casas delivered a time of 51.09 to defeat Olympic champion <strong>Caeleb<\/strong> <strong>Dressel<\/strong> (51.79) and <strong>Coleman Stewart<\/strong> (51.93), who also cracked the 52-second barrier. Casas split 23.75 for the opening 50 meters, which supplied a cushion that was too much for the field to overtake.<\/p>\n<p>Now training at the University of Texas, Casas&#8217; performance bodes well for the weekend ahead, as he is slated to contest the 100 backstroke on Friday. Casas figures to be a leading contender for a World Championships berth when USA Swimming holds its International Team Trials in late April in Greensboro.<\/p>\n<p>The 400 individual medley produced an anticlimactic result when Arizona State star freshman <strong>Leon Marchand<\/strong> was disqualified after initially appearing to win the event with the No. 1 time in the world. Marchand seemed to clock 4:10.38 for a dominant win over <strong>Jay<\/strong> <strong>Litherland<\/strong> (4:19.63), but the 19-year-old had his triumph taken away due to a turn violation.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the DQ, Marchand put on a show that made it obvious the Frenchman will be a factor for the podium in several events at this summer&#8217;s World Championships in Budapest. Marchand will see additional action in San Antonio during the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swmeets.com\/Realtime\/Pro%20Series\/2022\/San%20Antonio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Make it two 100 breaststroke wins in a row for <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> in Pro Series competition. Leading from the start, Andrew posted a time of 59.03 to lead three athletes under the minute mark. In his post-race interview, Andrew indicated he was looking for a mark in the 58-high range. Andrew went out in 27.44 to build an early edge, and while <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> came back on Andrew during the second lap, there wasn&#8217;t enough room to move ahead. Fink took second in 59.32, with <strong>Caspar Corbeau<\/strong> going 59.78 for third place.<\/p>\n<p>Coming off an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-mens-championships-drew-kibler-edges-matt-sates-in-200-free-prelims-132-00-for-eighth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA title in the 200-yard freestyle<\/a>, Texas&#8217; <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> made a smooth transition to the long-course pool and won his pet event easily, an effort of 1:47.61 getting the job done.
