Thomas<\/p>\n<p>SYDNEY, Feb. 23.  THE Australian men&#39;s team received bad tidings today with news that Michael Klim, the 100 fly world record-holder and dual Olympic gold medalist, will miss the Australian swimming titles &#8212; the qualifying meet for the World Championships &#8212; after the progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery late last year has proved slower than expected. <\/p>\n<p>Klim is too far behind in his preparation to be competitive at the trials commencing March 22 in Sydney. This will also dash any chance of his selection to the Aussi team to compete in the &quot;Duel in the Pool&quot; meet against the US in April.<\/p>\n<p>The news is a particularly tough break for Klim, with this latest disappointment coming on top of setbacks from an ankle fracture and major back surgery these past two years.<\/p>\n<p>Klim, 25, will now concentrate on making a comeback to competition in the second half of this year, possibly the Australian Short Course Championships in August, towards a successful build-up to the Olympic Games in Athens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Stephen J.
