The 2022 NCAA Men\u2019s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships continued with the 3-meter diving prelims from McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M senior Kurtis Mathews<\/strong> took the top seed on the 3-meter board with a dominating 447.30 score. Mathews won the 1-meter board NCAA title on Thursday and is in position to possibly claim a second title.<\/p>\n

Purdue has the second and third seeds with freshman Tyler Downs<\/strong> at 413.95 and senior Gregory Duncan<\/strong> less than a point behind at 413.30.<\/p>\n

Florida junior Leonardo Garcia<\/strong> took the fourth seed with 408.20 points, followed by Indiana\u2019s Andrew Capobianco<\/strong> (407.75), Columbia\u2019s Jonathan Suckow<\/strong> (405.40), North Carolina\u2019s Anton Down Jenkin<\/strong>s (404.70) and LSU\u2019s Juan Celaya-Hernandez<\/strong> (395.55).<\/p>\n

Mathews didn\u2019t compete at NCAAs last year due to obligations with the Australian national team, despite winning the SEC title on 3-meter and a silver medal in 1-meter in 2021. He also qualified for the 2020 NCAA championships before it was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. The native of Sydney finished 31st on 1-meter in 2019 at NCAAs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t able to compete, and coming back this year after a decent performance at our conference meet, I wanted to come out and finish,\u201d Mathews said of his 1-meter win. \u201cThis is the last time I get to be here, so I wanted to try my best and see if I could end up on the podium, and it was an excellent field. Everyone was amazing. I just was lucky enough to win today.\u201d<\/p>\n
