THROUGH the second of four nights, UC Davis has taken over the top spot on the women&#8217;s side of the 2014 MPSF Championship Meet, carrying 248 points into day three. UCSB follows in second with 237, and BYU in third with 202. The second day at East LA College saw eight NCAA Division I &#8216;B&#8217; Cuts, five coming in the 200 IM. Sophia Yamauchi of UCSB won that race (2:00.23), followed by Katie Edwards (2:01.04) of UC Davis, Allie Knight of UCSB (2:01.07), Katie Records of UCSB (2:01.25), and Cristina Mardones of Pacific (2:02.28). Margaux Verger Gourson swam a Tiger record-setting time of 4:47.23 in the 500 Free consolation finals, while the Gauchos&#8217; Andrea Ward posted the winning time in that race(4:46.99), both &#8216;B&#8217; cuts. Jasmine Alkhaldi of Hawaii took the 50 Free (22.83), also a &#8216;B&#8217; Time. The Rainbow Wahine picked up another victory, when Aimee Harrison dove to an MPSF Championship Meet record of 314.35 on the one-meter board at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>In men&#8217;s MPSF Championship action, Jake Taylor of BYU stopped the 200 IM clock with a winning 1:44.96, a new meet record. Two Cougars followed with &#8216;B&#8217; cuts, as Rafa Alfaro posted a 1:45.48, and Hayden Palmer in third at 1:48.55. Pacific&#8217;s Oliver Simkovic hit the other &#8216;B&#8217; time of 1:48.77. Victor Goicoechea of Hawaii broke the second men&#8217;s meet record, checking in at 4:16.67 in winning the 500 Free. BYU men continued its success on day two, with Jordan Fletcher&#8217;s top 50 Free (20.17), another &#8216;B&#8217; cut, as well as Nic Suder&#8217;s top one-meter dive (346.40).
