3-Meter Diving<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Day 3 prelims session of the 2022 NCAA Women\u2019s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships concluded from the McAuley Aquatic Center at Georgia Tech with 3-meter diving.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota senior and defending NCAA champion <strong>Sarah Bacon<\/strong> took the top seed with 386.25 points.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana senior <strong>Kristen Hayden<\/strong> is right on Bacon\u2019s heels with a 381.45 score and still within striking distance.<\/p>\n<p>Texas took the next two NCAA finalist spots as freshman <strong>Hailey Hernandez<\/strong> took the third seed with 366.35 points and senior <strong>Paola Pineda<\/strong> took the fourth seed with 357.40 points.<\/p>\n<p>Miami\u2019s <strong>Mia Vallee<\/strong>, who won the 1-meter title on Thursday, took he fifth seed with 356.55 points, followed by Indiana\u2019s <strong>Tarrin Gilliland<\/strong> (351.50), Arizona\u2019s <strong>Delaney Schnell<\/strong> (348.40) and Stanford senior the one-meter diving event at the <a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Championships<\/a> and finished eighth in the eight-woman field. A year later, she vaulted to the top of the standings \u2013 after a close call during prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Dueling with Minnesota\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-bacon-named-big-ten-conference-female-athlete-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sarah Bacon<\/strong><\/a>, the two-time defending champion, Vallee set a meet record with a tally of 365.75 points at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. That total handed the Miami junior a victory over Bacon, who checked in with a score of 356.60. Bacon set the previous record when she won the 2019 crown with a score of 363.20.\u00a0Vallee is the 14th Miami diver to win a national title under coach <strong>Randy Ableman<\/strong>. She was the first diver on the board during prelims and the final.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cStarting first is never fun,\u201d she said. \u201cIt is stressful to be the one starting the round. I think having done it in prelims, it was easier to do in finals. Everyone starts at zero.
