She also holds the NCAA record at 48.89 set last year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Stanford freshman <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> made the Olympic team for the U.S. in the event, breaking the American long-course record at the Olympic trials.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> broke the American record in the 50 freestyle on Thursday, giving the event a stunning three-way star power.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2022-ncaa-college-swimming-championships-women-di\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Full coverage<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Live results<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the fifth heat, Virginia\u2019s <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> held off a late surge to finish in 50.06, ahead of NC State\u2019s<strong> Kylee Alons<\/strong> (50.94) and <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> (51.27) in the first of her double. Douglass took the top seed overall. Alons took the seventh seed and White took the 10th spot.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s <strong>Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> was in the sixth heat and was bested by Texas\u2019 <strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> (50.73). Mac Neil was second in the heat at 50.76 and had the fifth seed overall behind Sticklen.<\/p>\n<p>Huske was in Lane 4 of the final heat and finished in 50.62 to hold off Tennessee\u2019s <strong>Ellen Walshe<\/strong> (50.65) to win the heat.
