{"id":499768,"date":"2022-03-17T13:41:19","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T20:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=499768"},"modified":"2022-03-17T17:43:22","modified_gmt":"2022-03-18T00:43:22","slug":"2022-ncaa-womens-championships-day-2-finals-heat-sheets-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-womens-championships-day-2-finals-heat-sheets-released\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 NCAA Women&#8217;s Championships Day 2 Finals Heat Sheets Released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 NCAA Women\u2019s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships continued with the Day 2 finals and the heat sheets have been released for the session.<\/p>\n<p>The first event of the night is the 500 freestyle and Penn\u2019s Lia Thomas is the top seed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Virginia\u2019s <strong>Alex Walsh<\/strong> (200 IM) and<strong> Kate Douglass<\/strong> (50 free) have the other top individual seeds and Virginia looks poised for a strong showing in the 200 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> broke the NCAA and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-womens-championships-kate-douglass-breaks-ncaa-american-record-in-50-free-gretchen-walsh-second\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American record in the 50 freestyle<\/a>, but more importantly for Virginia, teammate <strong>Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> took the second seed, putting two in the finals for the Cavaliers. If they can go 1-2 it would be huge as the team looks to hold off Stanford and the rest of the field. Meanwhile,<strong> Alex Walsh<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-womens-championships-alex-walsh-takes-top-seed-in-200-im-with-dominant-breaststroke-split\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took the top seed<\/a> in the 200 IM, another big point possibility for Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The Cavaliers have eight swimmers back, double the next highest total by another team. Virginia will send five to the finals and three to the consolation finals.
