This time broke the NCAA meet record of 1:33.11 set by Stanford in 2018 (<strong>Allie Howe, Kim Williams, Janet Hu<\/strong> and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At ACCs, we exceeded expectations for this relay,&#8221; Douglass said. &#8220;Coming into this meet, we wanted to go faster if we could, but our goal was to win our team&#8217;s first relay title in this event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Walsh split a 22.81 on the backstroke leading off (which was extremely fast but not the fastest in the race) before Wenger went a 26.08 in the breaststroke. Cuomo split 22.72 and Douglass anchored in 20.55.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s<strong> Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> split a stunning 22.70 in the 50 backstroke to give the Wolfpack the early lead, but the Cavaliers stormed back in the butterfly with Cuomo giving a lead to Douglass, who continued to separate from the field. NC State&#8217;s <strong>Sophie Hansson<\/strong> spit a 26.05 before <strong>Abby Arens<\/strong> (22.93) and <strong>Kylee Alons<\/strong> (21.22) followed for the Wolfpack, who also finished faster than the previous meet record in 1:32.96.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Virginia 200 medley relay\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9Dq_hyb7Rrg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-division-i-womens-swimming-and-diving-championships-day-1-heat-sheets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heat Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-ncaa-womens-championships-day-1-results-day-1\/ncaa-college\/2022\/March\/16?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ohio State finished third with <strong>Emily Crane, Hannah Bach, Katherine Zenick<\/strong> and <strong>Amy Fuller<\/strong> finishing in 1:33.16.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama was fourth with <strong>Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott<\/strong> and <strong>Kalia Antoniou<\/strong> (1:33.29).<\/p>\n<p>Texas finished fifth with <strong>Julia Cook, Anna Elendt, Olivia Bray<\/strong> and <strong>Emma Sticklen (<\/strong>1:34.46).<\/p>\n<p>Sixth went to Michigan with <strong>Maggie Mac Neil, Letitia Sim, Olivia Carter<\/strong> and <strong>Lindsay Flynn<\/strong> (1:34.53).<\/p>\n<p>Cal took seventh with <strong>Isabelle Stadden, Leah Polonsky, Mia Kragh<\/strong> and <strong>Elise Garcia. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the second heed, Cal (1:34.60) held off USC (1:34.66) with a good touch at the end from Garcia. It kept the Bears in the top eight, while the Trojans ended up ninth.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville took the first of three heats in 1:34.62 with a strong anchor from <strong>Gabi Albiero<\/strong>, and finished eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia set the NCAA, American and U.S. Open record at the ACC Championships last month as <strong>Gretchen Walsh, Alexis Wenger, Leci Cuomo<\/strong> and <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> touching the wall in 1:31.81.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, NC State was the defending champion with <strong>Katharine Berkoff, Sophie Hansson, Sirena Rowe, Kylie Alons<\/strong> finishing in 1:33.18 it was the third NCAA title in the event for NC State all time.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford leads the all-time event winning a stunning 14 NCAA titles in the event. The second-most all time is Cal with five.
