Coming off a pair of wins on Friday night, Curzan picked up two more triumphs to close the meet, this time defeating the opposition in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle.

Curzan’s first victory arrived in the 100-meter backstroke, where she clocked a mark of 58.94, which was just off her personal best of 58.82. Curzan’s latest sub-59 marker enabled her to finish ahead of Olivia Smoliga (59.53) and Hali Flickinger (59.78). She returned to the pool later in the session and went 24.59 to edge Abbey Weitzeil (24.73) in the 50 freestyle.

Ahead of the United States Trials for this summer’s World Championships, Curzan has built significant momentum to nail down Team USA bids for Budapest in a variety of events. Curzan has the talent and potential to earn international racing opportunities in freestyle, butterfly and backstroke action.

Olympic bronze medalist Annie Lazor came through with a superb time en route to a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Lazor stopped the clock in 2:22.59 to finish more than two seconds clear of Lilly King, who was the silver medalist in the event at the Tokyo Games. King finished in 2:24.65, followed by Lydia Jacoby in 2:28.22. For the men, Will Licon beat the field, his 2:11.75 holding off the 2:12.20 of Nic Fink.

Ryan Murphy completed his backstroke double when he clipped Shaine Casas for the second time in as many days. Backing up a decision in the 200 backstroke, Murphy won the 100 backstrole in 53.03, with Casas going 53.28. Murphy benefited from an opening lap of 25.69, which handed the Team USA stalwart a .23 edge on Casas.

Michael Andrew wrapped up his meet with a victory in a third stroke. Andrew sprinted to a time of 21.73 to win the 50 freestyle, which complemented previous first-place outings in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. Ian Ho (22.22), Ryan Held (22.29), Caeleb Dressel (22.37) and Bruno Fratus (22.41) followed Andrew. Dressel and Fratus, clearly in heavy training, won gold and bronze at the Olympics in Tokyo.

In the 800 freestyle, Katie Ledecky not surprisingly secured a victory over Leah Smith. A three-time Olympic champion in the event, Ledecky covered her 16 laps in 8:21.81, with Smith touching the wall in 8:26.28. In the men’s version of the event, Marwan El Kamash picked up his third win of the meet, as he went 7:58.65.

Sixteen-year-old Leah Hayes followed her win in the 200 freestyle by standing atop the podium in the 200 individual medley, her 2:11.27 effort a half-second ahead of the 2:11.76 of Beata Nelson. Sam Stewart was tops in the men’s 200 medley in 2:00.71.

Event 19 Women 800 LC Meter
