The 2022 Pac-12 Men\u2019s Swimming Championships kicked off from Federal Way, Washington with Day 4 prelims.<\/p>\n
The session has the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n
Cal had a big night on Thursday but still trails Stanford in the team standings heading into the final day. Cal put 16 swimmers into Saturday night finals while Stanford had just six.<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men’s 200 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n
Stanford junior Leon MacAlister<\/strong> dropped a second from his seed time to take the top seed in the 200 bacsktroke. He finished in 1:39.36 to finish about a half second ahead of the close field.<\/p>\n
In a huge move, Cal took seeds 2-3-4-5-6 as the Golden Bears look to catch Stanford on the final day.<\/p>\n
Cal senior Daniel Carr<\/strong> took the second seed (1:39.71), ahead of sophomore Destin Lasco<\/strong> (1:40.22), junior Sebastian Somerset<\/strong> (1:40.70), senior Bryce Mefford<\/strong> (1:41.29) and junior Colby Mefford<\/strong> (1:41.49).<\/p>\n
USC freshman Evangelos Makrygianni<\/strong>s took the seventh spot (1:41.86) ahead of Stanford freshman Aaron Sequeira<\/strong> (1:41.94).<\/p>\n

Cal had two swimmers tie for the top seed in the 100 freestyle and put four in the finals to continue their push toward Stanford, which did not put anyone in the 100 free finals.<\/p>\n
Cal sophomore Bjorn Seeliger<\/strong> and freshman Jack Alexy<\/strong> each touched the all in 41.77 to tie for the top seed heading into tonight’s final.<\/p>\n
Cal’s Matthew Jensen<\/strong> took the fifth spot (42.52) and Robin Hanson<\/strong> took the seventh seed (42.57).<\/p>\n
Arizona State put three in the finals as senior Grant House<\/strong> took the third seed (42.15), senior Carter Swift<\/strong> took the fourth seed (42.30) and Jack Dolan<\/strong> took the sixth spot (42.53).<\/p>\n

Cal continued its last-day surge by taking the top two seeds in the 200 breaststroke and putting three in the finals.<\/p>\n
Cal senior Reece Whitley<\/strong> took the top spot in 1:50.57, nearly a second ahead of the field and about two seconds off of his own Pac-12 record.<\/p>\n
Senior teammate Hugo Gonzalez<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:51.27. The top two spots were “A” cuts.<\/p>\n
Stanford senior Daniel Roy<\/strong> took the third spot in 1:52.37 ahead of USC freshman Chris O’Grady <\/strong>(1:52.66), Arizona State freshman Leon Marchand<\/strong> (1:52.97), who tied with Cal’s Jason Lauser for the fifth seed.<\/strong><\/p>\n
USC sophomore Ben Dillard<\/strong> took the seventh seed in 1:53.77, followed by Stanford freshman Ron<\/strong> Polonsky<\/strong>, who snagged the eighth seed (1:54.60).<\/p>\n
