Members of associate head coach\u00a0<strong>Mark Bernardino&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>distance group finished 1-2-4-5 in the mile after previously going 1-2-3-4 in the 500 free. University of Miami (Florida)     116<\/pre>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 1650 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Just like the 500 freestyle earlier this week, NC State was dominant in the 1650 free.\u00a0<strong>Will Gallant<\/strong> of the Wolfpack pulled away from Georgia Tech&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mert Kilavuz<\/strong> and then from his own NC State teammate\u00a0<strong>Ross Dant<\/strong> to pull away and win the title. Gallant touched the wall three seconds ahead of the field in 14:33.40,while Dant, the 500 free winner, placed second in 14:36.71. Gallant moved to second in the national rankings behind American-record holder and two-time Olympic gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong>, while Dant checked in at No. 3 in the national Aikins<\/strong> led the 200 back final through 150 yards, and he was up by almost eight tenths with 50 yards to go. However, Aikins faded badly at the end as Virginia Tech&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam Tornqvist<\/strong> surged home with a 25.29 final split. Following his scintillating 44.08 in the 100 fly and a third-place finish in the 50 free, Ramadan swam a time of 41.76, good enough to touch out Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Matt King<\/strong> (41.89). Ramadan moved to fifth in the national rankings in the 100 free, and it was the second straight event win for the Hokies after\u00a0<strong>Sam Tornqvist&#8217;s<\/strong> win in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Behind runnerup King, Virginia swimmers also occupied the third and fourth spots with <strong>Connor Boyle\u00a0<\/strong>(42.09) and\u00a0<strong>Matt Brownstead<\/strong> (42.14).
