BROWN DEER, Wisc., Feb. 11. SPEEDO athletes Nate Dusing and Neil Walker, 2000 Olympians, and USA National Team member Rachel Komisarz were the most accomplished athletes at this year\u2019s Schroeder YMCA A+ meet. <\/p>\n
The meet historically attracts some of the best USA Swimming teams in the Central Zone and beyond and serves as an important test before the USA Spring Nationals, Speedo Sectionals and many LSC Championships. <\/p>\n
The Senior and Age Group meet, which was initiated 23 years ago, had 67 USA Swimming teams and 1003 athletes in attendance.<\/p>\n
The USA National Team Members thrilled the other athletes and spectators with their performances and by tirelessly signing autographs and mugging with anxious young swimmers. <\/p>\n
One American Record, three National Age Group records and seven other meet records were established this year. <\/p>\n
Schroeder YMCA Swim Team\u2019s Alex Dionne, 12, set a new American Record in the Men\u2019s 100 yard Butterfly with a 1:19.90. Alex is a disabled athlete and is classified as an S7 as he is a double amputee. <\/p>\n
Schroeder\u2019s Mitchell Stoehr, age 10, was clearly the meet\u2019s outstanding performer. Mitch shattered the National Age Group Records in the 200 yard Free with a 1:57.94 and the 500 Free with a 5:17.58 He also established meet records in the 50 Free with a 25.29, 100 Free with a 56.01 and in the 100 IM a 1:06.11. <\/p>\n
Lake Country Swim Team\u2019s Mitchell Friedemann, age 10, went 28.64 in the 50 back and then helped his team break a meet record in the 10 & Under 200 Medley Relay with a 2:08.84 (Mitchell Friedemann 10, Theodore Leclere 10, Derek Landisch 9, and Aiden Kohnhorst 10). <\/p>\n
New Trier Swim Club\u2019s 11-12 girls established a new meet record with a 4:13.26 in the 400 Medley Relay (Betsy Webb 12, Alisa Finn 11, Alexandra Davitt 12, Elizabeth Clarke 12). <\/p>\n
Southwest Aquatic Team of Wisconsin\u2019s, Jenna Lennertz age 12, went 1:02.51 in the 100 IM and Wisconsin Aquatic\u2019s James Wike, age 19 swam the 400 IM 3:59.95. <\/p>\n
Schroeder YMCA Swim Team\u2019s Co-Head Coach, Dave Anderson, now in his eighth year, expressed his gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers and officials in USA Swimming\u2019s family as well as to meet sponsor Speedo who helped make this year\u2019s meet a success. Anderson also notes that none of this would be possible were it not for the generous gift from Milwaukee\u2019s Walter Schroeder Foundation in 1979 that enabled the construction and maintenance of the renowned Schroeder YMCA Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n
