Indiana\u2019s No. 13 women prevailed, 168-120.<\/p>\n<p>IU continued an 11-meet winning streak over the Boilermakers on the men\u2019s side by winning each swimming event.<\/p>\n<p>Miroslaw led the way by going 1:36.10 in the 200 free in a 1-2-3 sweep with teammates <strong>Tomer Frankel<\/strong> and <strong>Brendan Burns.<\/strong> Miroslaw went 20.13 to edge Purdue\u2019s <strong>Nikola Acin<\/strong> in the 50 free. His 43.35 bested Acin by more than a second in the 100 free. Miroslaw also anchored the winning 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Burns won the 100 fly in 46.79. <strong>Michael Bringear<\/strong> dominated the 500 and 1,000 free. Indiana swept the breaststroke events via <strong>Josh Matheny<\/strong> in the 100 and <strong>Maxwell Reich<\/strong> in the 200. <strong>Luke Barr<\/strong> and <strong>Cory Gambardella<\/strong> added wins in the 200 IM and 200 fly, respectively. <strong>Andrew Capobianco<\/strong> led an IU podium sweep in 1-meter diving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always super important to come away with wins against Purdue,\u201d IU head coach <strong>Ray Looze<\/strong> said <a href=\"https:\/\/iuhoosiers.com\/news\/2022\/1\/22\/mens-swimming-and-diving-iu-overpowers-purdue-in-the-pool.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a team release.<\/a> \u201cOur teams did a great job of that today. I thought it was a dominant performance from both squads, and I couldn\u2019t be happier for the seniors. We want to dedicate this meet to them because in athletics today, to start and finish at the same institution, to me, is hugely important, and I want to recognize it and celebrate it. So, these two wins are dedicated to our senior class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Purdue\u2019s lone victory came via <strong>Tyler Downs,<\/strong> who edged Indiana\u2019s <strong>Carson Tyler<\/strong> in platform diving.<\/p>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, <strong>Kacey McKenna<\/strong> led the way by sweeping the backstroke events. She claimed the 100 in 55.46 and the 200 in 2:00.89. McKenna also led off the winning 200 medley relay, followed by 100 breast champ <strong>Brearna Crawford<\/strong> and 100 fly champ.<\/p>\n<p>The anchor on the 200 medley relay was <strong>Mackenzie Looze,<\/strong> who won the 200 IM and also brought home the winning 400 free relay behind <strong>Anna Peplowski, Ella Ristic<\/strong> and <strong>Dominika Kossakowska.<\/strong> Peplowski won the 100 free and 500 free, and Ristic won the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tarrin Gilliland<\/strong> swept the 1-meter and platform diving events for IU. <strong>Anna Freed<\/strong> (200 fly), <strong>Noelle Peplowski<\/strong> (200 breast) and <strong>Maggie Wallace<\/strong> (1,000 free) added wins for the Hoosiers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hannah Hill<\/strong> went 23.30 to win the 50 free for Purdue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rafael Miroslaw Claims Three Events as Indiana Sweeps Purdue Freestyler Rafael Miroslaw won all four times he touched the water Saturday as Indiana claimed an in-state sweep of Purdue.
