No. 4 Stanford women’s swimming and diving opened its final weekend at home with a 160-90 victory over Arizona State, Friday at the Avery Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n

The Cardinal won 13 of 14 events on the day \u2013 which included both relays \u2013 opening the dual with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. The ‘A’ relay team of Regan Smith, Emma Wheal, Allie Raab<\/strong> and Taylor Ruck<\/strong> went 1:38.83 to set the day’s standard.<\/p>\n

Ruck was also victorious in both the 100 back (52.97) and the 200 back (1:54.33) to score 20.75 points for Stanford.<\/p>\n

Showing remarkable range, freshman Torri Huske<\/strong> was victorious in the 1000 free (9:51.06), the 50 free (22.79) and the 200 IM (1:58.16). Her victory in the 1000 free paved the way for a 1-2-3-4 Cardinal sweep, with Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> (9:54.26), Aurora Roghair<\/strong> (10:04.16) and Isabel Gormley<\/strong> (10:11.62) following behind her.<\/p>\n

Allie Raab<\/strong> (1:02.17) and Sam Tadder<\/strong> (2:16.37) won the 100 breast and 200 breast, respectively, with the later finishing second in the shorter event. Brooke Forde<\/strong> won the 500 free (4:46.93), and Janelle Rudolph<\/strong> won the 100 free in 49.99. Emma Wheal and Smith won the 100 fly and 200 fly, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Cardinal closed out the meet with another convincing victory in the 400 free relay. The ‘A’ team of Amy Tang, Alex Crisera, Anya Goeders<\/strong> and Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> went 3:22.26, nearly six seconds ahead of the top Sun Devil quartet.<\/p>\n

Competing as an exhibition, Julia Wortman<\/strong> (297.23), Daria Lenz<\/strong> (292.88) and Lauren Burch<\/strong> (280.65) competed on the platform.<\/p>\n

Stanford closes out its home season tomorrow against No. 23 Arizona. The Cardinal will honor the senior class of Zoe Bartel, Brooke Forde, Anya Goeders, Daria Lenz, Lucie Nordmann, Allie Raab, Taylor Ruck, Carolina Scult<\/strong>i and Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> prior to the meet.<\/p>\n

In the men’s meet, the Cardinal took down the Sun Devils on Friday afternoon by a score of 184 to 93 in the Avery Aquatic Center. Stanford claimed 11 event wins on the way to the team victory.<\/p>\n

The meet started in favor of Stanford, with an event win in the 200-yard medley relay. Leon MacAlister, Ron Polonsky, Andrei Minakov,<\/strong> and Mason Gonzalez<\/strong> combined for a time of 1:25.72 and the first-place finish.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s Grant Shoults<\/strong> continued his dominance in the long distance events, notching another win in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:09.13. The fifth-year swimmer also claimed second place in the 500-yard free later in the meet.<\/p>\n

Andrew Matejka<\/strong> performed well in the long distance events for Stanford, grabbing third in the 1000 with a time of 9:16.84. The junior swimmer also finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:31.73. Preston Forst<\/strong> narrowly took second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:34.70, but the super sophomore came back to win the 500-yard free, beating out Shoults by 0.02 with a time of 4:21.08.<\/p>\n

Leon MacAlister<\/strong> once again flexed his strength in the backstroke, nabbing a first place finish in the 100-yard backstrokee with a time of 46.64. Later in the meet, he finished second in the 200-yard backstroke by 0.1 seconds and with a time of 1:43.24.<\/p>\n

Ethan Dang, Jon Cook<\/strong>, and Daniel Roy<\/strong> dominated the breaststroke events throughout the entire meet. The trio claimed the top-three spots in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, with Ethan Dang taking the top spot in the 100 with a time of 53.68. Daniel Roy earned first in the 200-yard event, finishing with a time of 1:56.89.<\/p>\n

Andrei Minakov<\/strong> continued to show his dominance in the freestyle, taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.59. The freshman Olympian also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle, notching a time of 43.29. Stanford swept the 100-yard fly as Aaron Sequeira<\/strong> set a personal best and took first place with a 47.24. Ethan Hu and Jonny Affeld<\/strong> took second and third in the event.<\/p>\n

The meet finished with a narrow second place finish for Stanford in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Cardinal team of Leon MacAlister, Preston Forst, Jonny Affeld<\/strong>, and Andrei Minakov<\/strong> finished iwht a time of 2:54.09, just behind the Arizona State time of 2:53.84.<\/p>\n

The nation’s fastest 200 IMer in L\u00e9on Marchand<\/strong> certainly looked the part on Friday afternoon at Stanford, as the Sun Devils’ highly-decorated freshman cruised to wins in the 200 IM and 200 back despite both the men’s and women’s team falling to the Cardinal.<\/p>\n

Stanford grabbed victories in the first four events of the afternoon, before Erica Laning<\/strong> and Grant House<\/strong> tallied back-to-back Sun Devil wins in the women’s and men’s 200 free races.<\/p>\n

Erica Laning<\/strong> won the women’s 200 free, touching the wall at 1:47.58 and outstretching Stanford 2020 Olympic Silver Medalist Brooke Forde<\/strong>, who finished at 1:47.71. Grant House<\/strong> tallied wins in the 200 free (1:34.63) and the 400 free relay (2:53.84), joined alongside Carter Swift, Evan Carlson<\/strong> and Jack Dolan.<\/strong> With a pair of wins today, House and Marchand have now won multiple events in each of the first three meets of the season.<\/p>\n
