USC resumed the 2021-22 season in dominant fashion, winning 27 out of 28 events against UC San Diego on Saturday (Jan. 15) at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n

Five Trojans won twice each, as seniors\u00a0Isabelle Odgers,\u00a0Calypso Sheridan\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Laticia Transom<\/strong>\u00a0as well as junior\u00a0Nicole Pavlopoulouand freshman\u00a0Caroline Pennington\u00a0each posted a pair of wins.<\/p>\n

Both USC squads advance to 4-0 on the season. The Women of Troy defeated the Tritons women’s squad 210-52, while the men won 195.5-65.5.<\/p>\n

The Women of Troy swept the relays, opening the meet with a win in the 200y medley (Sheridan, Pavlopoulou,\u00a0Genevieve Sasseville,\u00a0Anicka Delgado<\/strong>\u00a0– 1:41.95) and closing the meet with a 400y free relay victory (Delgado,\u00a0Adair Sand,\u00a0Aela Janvier,\u00a0Makenna<\/strong> Turner\u00a0<\/strong>– 3:27.64).<\/p>\n

USC newcomer Pennington impressed during her first meet as a Trojan, taking first in the women’s 1000y free (9:56.73) and later returning to take the 500y free (4:53.46).<\/p>\n

Senior Transom kicked off the meet with a win for the Trojans in the 200y free (1:47.18) before topping the 100y free (49.97), just a short while later.<\/p>\n

USC cleaned house in the breaststroke events, claiming both the 100 and 200 for the men and the women. Pavlopoulou won the 100 (1:03.06) as well as the 200 (2:16.16). On the men’s side, Trent Pellini\u00a0<\/strong>(55.91) and\u00a0Mario Koenigsperger<\/strong>\u00a0(2:02.53) emerged victorious in the 100 and 200, respectively.<\/p>\n

The breaststroke and IM specialist,\u00a0Isabelle Odgers<\/strong>, championed both the 100y fly (54.29) and 100y back (55.95) for USC. Fellow senior Sheridan rounded out the afternoon with a pair of wins, coming from the 50y free (23.32) and 200y IM (1:59.48).<\/p>\n

USC distance specialists were on display today, as junior Ivan Puskovitch<\/strong>\u00a0(9:30.75) claimed the 1000y free and senior\u00a0Victor Johansson<\/strong>\u00a0(4:29.85) won the 500.<\/p>\n

USC’s Artem Selin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Thomas Finello<\/strong>\u00a0led the way for USC in the men’s splash and dash events, with Selin taking the 50y free (19.89) and Finello claiming the 100 (44.78).<\/p>\n

The USC men closed out the afternoon with a win in the 400y free relay as Selin,\u00a0Ben Dillard<\/strong>,\u00a0Vaggelis Makrygiannis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Billy Cruz Zuniga<\/strong>\u00a0combined for first (2:59.69).<\/p>\n
