Kale won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.14). <strong>Cara Bognar<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly (2:03.14) and the 500 freestyle (5:03.62). <strong>Laurel Bludgen<\/strong> won the 50 freestyle (23.81). <strong>Sydney Stoll<\/strong> won the 200 backstroke (2:06.28) and 200 IM (2:08.05). <strong>Jane Umhofer<\/strong> won the 200 breaststroke (2:24.52).<\/p>\n<p>Bludgen,<strong> Lily Olson<\/strong>, Yetter and Cabush won the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.27).<\/p>\n<p>Iowa won five events in the Big Ten meet.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More college news<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was an excellent team effort against a Big Ten opponent today,\u201d said head coach <strong>Nathan Mund<\/strong>t. \u201cThe swimmers and divers embraced the opportunity to compete after a few weeks away from competition. This is a great step for us to win events against a Big Ten team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Hawkeyes started strong with a string of first-place finishes in the Big Ten meet. Junior <strong>Anna Brooker<\/strong> won the 1,000 free with a season-best time of 10:37.15 and junior<strong> Kennedy Gilbertson<\/strong> tied her 100-back season-best (56.61) in her first-place finish. Gilbertson also placed first in the 100-free with a time of 52.66.<\/p>\n<p>Diving had another successful Big Ten meet with a strong performance sophomore<strong> Sarah Ballard.<\/strong> The Indiana native placed first in both the 1-meter (306.30) and 3-meter (294.15) springboards. Sophomore <strong>Claire Hartley<\/strong> dove to a season-best off the 1-meter (251.03), while freshman<strong> Makayla Hughbanks<\/strong> had a season-best off the 3-meter (266.18).<\/p>\n<p>Other Hawkeye <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/hawkeyesports-com\/2022\/01\/00ef48dd-illinois-vs.-iowa-results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">season-bests<\/a> include two from junior<strong> Zoe Pawloski<\/strong> in the 200 back (2:09.73) and 200 IM (2:13.36). Junior Georgia Clark had her best 200 free of the year with 1:58.10.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa welcomed back sophomore<strong> Anna Pfeiffer<\/strong> and the Missouri State transfer competed in both the 200-medley and 400-free relays, as well as the 200-free (2:00.29) and 200-back (2:09.68) in her first meet back with the Hawkeyes and back in the Big Ten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Illinois women\u2019s swimming and diving team defeated Iowa 204-87 on Saturday in a Big Ten dual meet.
